The Mediterranean Hackberry tree, known by host of other names depending on the region, is a deciduous tree native to southern Europe and Asia Minor. Trees grow anywhere from 10 to 25 meters in height and have smooth, gray, elephantine bark. Dark green leaves fade to a pale yellow before falling in the autumn. The fruit from the Hackberry tree is made up of clusters of small, dark purple berries.

Hackberry trees live for a long time and are known for being ornamental, drought-resistant, and unaffected by air pollution.
